We are proud to announce our 2026 Quarter One Service Champion, Rochele Mortensen!
The Service Champion Award recognizes team members who demonstrate a strong positive attitude and commitment to our mission. Employees are nominated by their peers, and recipients are selected by our HR team. In addition to the recognition, the award includes 8 hours of PTO. Rochele was chosen for her hard work, member-focused approach, and consistently bright mindset.
With 23 years of service at our St. Ignace branch under her belt, Rochele has built her career around helping members feel supported and taken care of. In her role as Solutions Manager/IRA Admin, she assists with a wide variety of member needs, from bill pay and account support to more complex transactions, all while supporting her team behind-the-scenes.
For Rochele, great service starts with the basics. “Great service means greeting, smiling, and listening to the member about what they need or want to do and following through in a timely manner,” she says, “Ask them if there is anything else that you can do for them.
This framework shows up in her day-to-day work. “I always make sure to listen to the member, whether on the phone or in person,” she states, “If I don’t know the answer, I find someone who can help them or get the answer for them.”
Rochele’s favorite part of her job is the people, “My co-workers are what I enjoy most. I’ve worked with many over the 23 years… We have a lot of nice members also.”
Being named Service Champion was meaningful for her. “It makes me feel noticed and good,” she said, “It feels nice to be recognized for all my hard work over the years.”
Outside of work, Rochele enjoys time with her family, being outdoors, traveling, and staying active. Her advice for others is simple and steady: “Be a role model and treat members and co-workers the way you want to be treated.”
Congratulations, Rochele, on this great achievement! You are an asset to our team, and we are so grateful for your dedication to making U.P. State Credit Union a great place for our members to save, borrow, and plan for the future.
