U.P. State Credit Union Launches Youth Financial Literacy Movement

Escanaba, April 1, 2026

U.P. State Credit Union has developed an engaging Youth Financial Literacy Bingo challenge for elementary through high school students that introduces age-appropriate financial concepts and real-world learning. Each child who completes at least one bingo and returns their card by the end of April is entered in the grand prize drawing for their age group.

April is Youth Financial Literacy Month, and we are excited to help U.P. youth build strong money habits in a fun and engaging way!

This year, we are inviting kids of all ages to participate in our Financial Literacy Bingo Challenge! We’ve created bingo cards tailored to elementary, middle, and high school students. Each card is designed to introduce age-appropriate financial concepts and encourage real-world learning with hands-on tasks. Every bingo they complete enters them into our prize drawing!

“This year, we wanted to create a challenge that would encourage the natural curiosity that all kids have. This bingo card is intended to spark financial questions at the dinner table or on the car ride to school,” said UPSCU Marketing Director, Kenadie Nelson.

Kids can stop into any branch (Escanaba, Norway, St. Ignace, Sault Ste. Marie, Kincheloe, and Cedarville) to pick up their bingo card and start exploring topics like saving, spending wisely, setting goals, and understanding how money works.

Financial habits begin forming at a young age. Programs like this help kids develop the skills they need to make informed decisions as they grow! We’re proud to support our community’s youth and encourage families to participate together.

U.P. State Credit Union is a member-owned credit union serving Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Since 1955, we’ve been helping our neighbors save, borrow, and plan for the future—combining modern banking tools with personal service.
